View this post on Instagram Trees have been described as the lungs of our planet. While we inhale oxygen (as well as other gases and particles) and exhale waste (carbon dioxide), our trees “inhale” harmful gases (our waste) and exhale oxygen (a life source of ours). 🙏 Thank you 🌳🌴🌲🌵🌱🌿🍃🙏✨ . This reminded me of scientists who have studied whether tree roots and branches also resemble our brains, or, vice versa. Peter Wohlleben, author of the delightful book, The Hidden Life of Trees, writes that the roots of trees conduct active, brain-like processes that enable trees to communicate and learn. @peter_wohlleben . Turns out, trees have sophisticated, intelligent mechanisms that help them defend each other from threats (like harmful insects), and support each other like family and friends. In fact, trees prefer to have a social network. They take care of each other!🥰 . Fungi are involved in these communications too. 🍄 Their bodies are made up of a mass of thin threads, known as a mycelium, which act like an underground internet, linking the roots of different plants. . We’re more similar than most people know. 💫 . . . . #brainmeditation #oneplanet #oneplanetonefuture #oneplanetonehealth #consciousliving #consciousawakening #mindfullness #mindfulness #mindfullnes #mindfullife #mindbodygreen #nontoxicliving #nontoxiclife #ruanliving #hiddenlifeoftrees #braindetox #detoxyourbrain A post shared by Ruan Living (@ruanliving) on Mar 25, 2019 at 8:10am PDT
